Most cameras go offline with a £20 jammer, can't read a number plate, and stop dead when Wi-Fi drops. A hardwired PoE system records 4K, sees in the dark, and never stops.

DIY Wi‑Fi cameras go blind

Here's what happens when your camera depends on Wi-Fi.

WiFi jamming

What happens

Burglars have used cheap jammers to knock out Wi‑Fi cameras.

Why it matters

£20 device. Total blackout.

If your security depends on Wi‑Fi, it can be silenced in seconds.

Network failures

What happens

A brief power cut or network issue can leave you with lost footage.

Why it matters

No local recording, no security.

A wired PoE CCTV system records to a local NVR even if your Wi‑Fi goes down.

Data privacy

What happens

Your security footage travels through third‑party servers.

Why it matters

Keep footage on your property.

Local storage means you decide who can access it - no subscriptions.

What our customers say

Residential and commercial installs across Leicester and Leicestershire.

"Four cameras covering the driveway, both side gates, and the back garden. Installed in a day, cabling hidden through the loft. Got a motion alert that same night - a fox, but the footage was pin-sharp."
James, Loughborough
"Break-in attempt at the rear of our shop last year and the old system missed it completely. New setup covers the loading bay, both entrances, and the till in 4K. Insurance dropped £340 at renewal."
Priya, Oadby
"Previous installer just stuck cameras on the corners and left. Doberman came out first, walked the whole plot, and moved the front camera 40cm to eliminate a blind spot I didn't even know I had."
Mark, Wigston

Built to keep recording

Five features that keep footage rolling

Bulletproof Technology+

A cheap jammer can disrupt Wi‑Fi signals and knockout your camera, 'till you need the footage.

Wi‑Fi camera (vulnerable)

  • Depends on Wi‑Fi signal quality
  • Jamming = dropouts or no uploads
  • Cloud reliance adds failure points

PoE wired CCTV (reliable)

  • One cable for power + data
  • No Wi‑Fi to jam
  • Local recording to your NVR
Night Vision+

Night footage is where most systems disappoint. The G6 Bullet is rated for up to 30m (≈98ft) IR night vision (site-dependent).

Typical consumer cam

5m usable detail. Faces/plates often blur.

Professional setup

30m night vision (98ft) with proper placement.

Artificial Intelligence+

Keeps working even when internet doesn't, camera-based AI doesn't depend on the cloud.

Instant search

  1. 1Filter by person/vehicle events
  2. 2Jump straight to the clips that matter
  3. 3Export footage quickly when you need
Automatic Failover+

If the NVR is ever unavailable, backup matters. Cameras support microSD failover during network disruptions so footage is never lost.

How failover protects footage

  • Camera continues recording locally, even if the NVR is offline
  • You can retrieve footage from the camera's SD card if needed
Complete Privacy+

Local recording keeps your footage on your premises. Cameras support secure video streams (HTTPS/SRTP).

  • Local storage by default (your premises only)
  • Access controls set up properly
  • NDAA-compliant equipment options available

Reputation is everything

Every install's backed two ways. No exceptions.

Annual health check

We come back at twelve months and confirm everything's still tight.

2-year camera warranty

Two years on every camera. If one fails, we come out and replace it.

FAQs

Fast answers to the most common questions.

How long does installation take?+

A standard 3-4 camera residential install typically takes a full day. Larger properties or commercial jobs can run to two days. We don’t rush - cabling is hidden through loft spaces and wall cavities, not clipped across brickwork. Every system is commissioned after dark so we verify night footage before we leave.

Why PoE instead of Wi‑Fi?+

Wi-Fi cameras depend on signal strength, can be knocked offline by a cheap jammer, and stop recording if your router goes down. PoE runs power and data over a single cable - there’s no wireless signal to interfere with, no cloud dependency, and recording continues regardless of your internet connection. It’s the professional standard for a reason.

How many cameras do I need?+

Most 3-bedroom homes need three to four cameras - front door, rear garden, and side access are the priority. The side access is the one most people miss, and it’s the most common entry point. We won’t recommend more cameras than your property needs, and we won’t leave obvious blind spots to sell you an extra unit later.

What equipment do you use?+

We use 4K PoE cameras rated for 24/7 outdoor recording with up to 30 metres of IR night vision, paired with a local NVR with enough storage for your retention requirements. Everything is trade-grade - not the consumer kit you’d find on a retail shelf. We’ll spec the exact camera count and storage capacity after the site survey.

How much does installation cost?+

Cost depends on camera count, cabling routes, and property type - which is exactly why we do a free site survey before quoting anything. You’ll get a fixed price before we start, not an estimate that grows on the day.

Will CCTV reduce my home insurance?+

Many insurers offer a discount for professionally installed CCTV - typically 5-15%. The key word is professionally installed. Consumer Wi-Fi cameras rarely qualify. We can provide documentation of your system after installation if your insurer requires it.

How long is footage kept?+

That depends on the storage capacity of your NVR and how many cameras you have running. We configure retention to match your needs - most residential installs hold 30 days of continuous footage, commercial installs typically 60-90 days. Unlike cloud systems, there’s no subscription cap on how much you can store.
